Junction 29 - 30 Works
The final phase of the widening works between junctions 29 and 30 has started.

A temporary 50mph average speed restriction will be in force in order to ensure the safety of road users as well as the road construction workforce.

During the widening works on the clockwise carriageway traffic will run on three narrow lanes using lane 1 and 2 with a third lane in contraflow on the anti-clockwise carriageway.

Road users are asked to take note of the extra signage advising the destination of each lane. Drivers using the contraflow lane will not be able to exit at junction 30 on the clockwise carriage and may find themselves heading for the Dartford River Crossing. A process is in place to support customers who arrive at the Crossing to continue their journey with the minimum of inconvenience.

During this time the anti-clockwise carriageway will have three narrow lanes using the hard shoulder and lanes 1 and 2.

From October 2011 we will move to widen the anti-clockwise carriageway with traffic running on three narrow lanes using lanes 1 and 2 with a third lane in contraflow on the clockwise carriageway.

Following completion of these works we will move to working in the centre reserve from mid February 2012.

Overnight, when traffic flow is reduced, there will be some lane and/or slip road closures as necessary. These will be advertised as broadly as possible.

All work is due for completion by June 2012.
